Classically trained pianist and composer Anne-Marie Keane dropped Layers of a Woman at midnight on 12/12 as she continues her multi-year sailing expedition.

Classically trained composer and pianist Anne-Marie Keane marked a milestone at midnight today with the release of her new album, Layers of a Woman (December 12, 2025). The eight-track record explores the intimate and collective experience of womanhood—strength, vulnerability, transformation—through vivid instrumental storytelling.
But this release day looks nothing like a traditional launch. Keane is celebrating from the deck of Alpenglow, the 60-foot sailboat she and her husband are using to navigate a multi-year, cross-ocean expedition.
“Life is meant to be lived with passion and purpose, as if every day is our last,” she says—a philosophy reflected in both her music and her lifestyle.

A Record Born Between Continents
Layers of a Woman expands on Keane’s debut ballet score, Untamed Woman, originally created with AVID Dance and choreographer Ursula Verduzco. Performed by the all-female Ensemble Mycelium—piano, cello, and viola—the album blends classical orchestration with contemporary textures, presenting womanhood as layered, multifaceted, and deeply human.
The record features four works from the ballet, plus two new pieces and two extended tracks that broaden the emotional arc of the original score.
Her compositions have appeared across dance, film, and documentary projects, including MoCrazy Strong and Beyond Doubt. Yet this album may be her most personal, shaped by both artistic intention and the unpredictable cadence of life at sea.

Where She’s Headed
With the album now live worldwide as of midnight, Keane continues her multi-year journey after successfully completing her Atlantic crossing. Ahead lie the next passages of her expedition: the Caribbean, the Panama Canal, the Galápagos, the South Pacific, Australia, South Africa, and Brazil. Fans can track her route in real time and follow updates from her ever-moving, oceanborne studio.
As both artist and adventurer, Anne-Marie Keane is charting her own uncompromising path and with Layers of a Woman, she delivers a work as expansive as the horizons she’s now sailing beyond. The album is streaming on all major platforms, including Spotify and Apple Music.
